Informational
sources and how I gain them
When I was in elementary school I
was taught that books were the way to find information on subjects but as I
gained a computer and internet and the ability to use I was easier just to type
the information and gain knowledge that way. Only time I ever had to use a book
was for book reports and even then I googled the topic on the internet. Then
after a while it seemed much simpler to just googled any questions I needed for
everyday life or homework to the point where any other sources didn't seem
necessary at all. This probably affected me to the point where I was
disinterested in books or any other sources of information because why look up
information in books when going through the internet for information was much
faster and simplified? Though right now I understand they can be great for
correct information as not everything on the internet is completely correct
without multiple sources. Even though I realized that now, my preference in the
internet information search seems liked the best choice since most information
I do look up appears to be correct and often more informational then looking up
in articles or books. The way I got my sources had a significant part in my
life.
Another type of information of how I
used to go through is social through friends. Back then when I wanted to find
out something about someone I would ask them or someone who knew them but now
with facebook and online messenger I wouldn't really need to do that at all.
The effects to do was that I was less incline to want to talk to people as much
and that I think was much worse than talking to other people. It probably led
others people that type of way also. Even information about school was shared
that way for example how good a teacher was and if you should take a class or
not depending on the information that is shared. These experiences on the way I got my
information I guess made me addicted to it. Anything I would want to know most
of the time would be there ready for me to grasp its knowledge. Overall I think
the way a person gain their source of information determine a lot on how a
person really is.
The next part of this essay I would
like to talk about is how differences sources are defined to me. One is Newspaper
articles they offer some source of information but it is usually not enough
without other type of sources because of how short it would be and usually is
reliable. Another source is scholarly article while they usually seem to offer
more it just would not be enough and these type of articles are harder to come
by but very reliable source. The last one that stand out to me is web articles
nearly all type of magazine and newspaper offer them on their very own websites
now, while their reliability can differ on certain websites there are still
many which off reliable sources if you know where to look and check multiple
web sources online. These different sources help point out which type of
information you would need for example a brief essay a newspaper source or scholarly
magazine would suffice. But when I need as much information as possible usually
nothing can go wrong without the web articles. This source is the most
informative and yet can be the most wrong if you do not know how to search
correctly. While my opinion may be different on the sources I defined they are
how I feel about them.
The sources I found are exactly what I expected when I got to them. I expected the online articles to have more
information while the newspaper I got to mention only a certain part of the
topic I was looking for. I was correct to this expectation since the web
articles had the most to offer on different parts on my topic while the
newspaper was more brief. These two type of sources are very easy to get making
it the best sources alone in my opinion. The intended uses for newspaper is
daily readers who need a glimpse on what is happening and web articles it seems
is to provide a bigger knowledge on anything you would like to know about it.
For example the bills for internet restriction was so strong that facebook and
Google went through tremendous effort to lobby (Mike Swift) or People fought
against internet restrictions and won out against the bills(Scheibel). I
think each source is very good depending on what you are looking for.
In my final evaluation both my
sources are very reliable. My web article sources are from a educational site
while my other information is from a newspaper. I judge that these information
is correct due to multiple sources newspaper and many front page web articles.
One quote "withdrawal of the overly broad SOPA"( Scheibel) is referred in many other sources such as proquest where
"SOPA defeat a victory for tech" (Chris)a site for educational
purposes referred to. These two similarity help proves the reliability of the
source and whether it may be used or not. These aspects on what each
information gives help verify the reliability of the sources and I think one
source alone should never be enough when doing a research paper.

There were a couple of grammatical errors here and there, particularly in the first half of the essay, however your essay doesn't run on and on, rather it displayed your views very clearly. Also I'd suggest really running through your essay carefully and looking for punctuation and spelling, so that it's easier to read through the paper without stopping, pretty much enhancing the flow for the reader :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment and yeah kind of rushed the first half. It wasn't clear to me if we could revise essay after comments but apparently not. I'll make sure to get back to you thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Google does a great job of providing us some information that we need.
ReplyDeleteGood essay Adam. Great use of sources
